Job News

I hate to jinx it. It's kind of like when a pitcher has a no-hitter going, it is absolutely against the rules to mention that he has a no-hitter going because, invariably, the moment you acknowledge it, POOF! It's gone! But, what the heck. I have applied for an anchor job with WSB radio in Atlanta. WSB is one of the most prestigious news talk operations in the South and the entire country for that matter. I sent my application Tuesday and heard back from them Wednesday. They wanted more airchecks of me anchoring news, breaking news etc... So, the fact that they responded is encouraging, but I am not sure where I stand in their minds. I will update as soon as I hear anything definite, but PLEASE PRAY FOR ME!

Aside from my full-time job being finding a full-time job, I have mostly been running. Last weekend I ran the half-marathon (13.1 miles) and did really well--until mile 10. I just hit a wall, but I finished, and that is key--get the miles in. This week is a big jump. Tomorrow at 6am I will be running 16 miles. We are beginning to get into the heavy-duty training period where watching what you eat and drink is so important. If you are not taking care of yourself during the week leading up to the long run, you don't have a chance. So, I am working hard to stay in shape and keep my dietary habits in line. Lots of complex carbs (rice, pasta, bread) and water.

I have mostly been spending my free time playing golf and seeing movies. Considering I have only played about 10-15 rounds of golf in my life and only the last 5 or 6 have been right-handed (I can do both, but made the switch about a month ago), the fact that I shot a 94 last week is pretty exciting. I have lots of room for improvement, though. As for movie, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby was awesome! I love Will Ferrell. He does a great job not stealing all of the punch lines. The fact that everyone in that movie had funny lines made it so much better than if it were just Ferrell being funny. If you haven't seen it, go now! He is byfar the best product SNL has put out since the Farley/Sandler/Rock days. That's enough...

Peace!

Comments:
Good luck on the ATL opportunity. Youre a good soul who is destined to go very far in life.

Also, Good luck in the marathon Matt. We should try to catch a round of golf when you get back from NYC
